Hello everyone! We are so glad to be really up and going again! Thanks so much for sticking with us! As you can see, we just released Majutsu wa Sasayaku and announced our newest project - Jouichi Hariyou Tsuma Shimatsu. We will also be releasing episode 7 of Biyo Shonen Celebrity soon, as well as a batch release of episodes 2-5 of Why Did You Come To My House. I know what everyone is excitedly waiting for - Indigo no Yoru - and just know that it really is in the works. Please continue to be patient with us. Fansubbing is a labor of love and sometimes our real lives tend to get busy. When you realize that it takes 4-6 people to sub a show then you can understand how getting everyone at their free moment is kind of hard. :P HOWEVER, we did release a very special treat for our "real fans" on the forum in regards to this show. It's our way of saying thanks for being so patient!
In regards to Marriage Plot- we have decided to drop this project. Another group has done a great job at getting the subs out there for everyone and our Korean translator is currently working on her Masters degree, so this really took a back burner. We decided it was best to support the subs that are already out there and encourage you to do the same :) As for Office Girls - again, we are dropping this show. We will be releasing episode 7 before we completely drop it, however. But our main translator, and real project lead on that project, has gotten quite busy as well and is unable to continue her work on it.
Speaking of translators and needing them...we have a couple of projects that's we'd LOVE help on. If you'd like to help us translate from either Japanese or Chinese to English please apply! We are more then happy to teach people if you've never done this type of thing before. The more help we have the faster our releases can come out. So, if you'd like to see more episodes of Meteor Shower, Dandy Daddy?, or even BeBop Highschool 2, then please apply! (To apply just click here) As always, we are happy for any extra help as well. Typesetters, KFX people, uploaders, editors...we need all of you. :)
The blog has been pretty much dead lately but that doesn't mean we have stopped fansubbing. Not at all ! So I thought I'd come and post some updates at the moment. Hello all! We are excited to bring you a couple of announcements!
1- We are looking into subbing Hataraku Gon! It's a movie about a TV news reporter with a reputation for doing tear-jerking interviews.
Left by her husband, she was forced to raise her two sons by herself.
When she gets assigned to cover a case involving a single mother whose
son disappears, she faces a conflict between her personal life and work. It stars Shinohara Ryoko as the female reporter. We are excited about possibly working on this movie, so watch here for more info about it!
2- We have decided to release soft-subs for episodes 1-2 of Biyo Shonen Celebrity (we are hard subbing episodes 3 on). However, like our other soft-subs they will be only available on the forums. So, if you're interested in watching the first 2 episodes keep watch over there. Just a reminder, to access any of our soft-subs on the forums you do have to have a minimum post count of 5.
As always, if you're interested in joining us to help with any of our projects, please feel free to apply!
Thanks for being great fans!
We are in need of new staff members. As all of you know; more active staff members means faster releases. Share the word to all of your friends to spread the love ♥ If you are interested in helping us out click this link to apply.
Hello! I just wanted to post here that we are still looking for people to join our team. Right now we are in the most need of:
* Chinese - English Translators
* Encoders
* Timers
If you know how to do one of those, please apply! The more people we have the faster we can have releases :) Also, if you're new to the fansubbing world, we're happy to train people. This doesn't mean that if you are a typesetter or editor (or even a Korean or Japanese translator) you shouldn't apply. These are just the spots we need the most. Thanks for your interest :D

Probably related to history, HERO OF THE TIMES is a joint Hong Kong and TCS Corp. drama series, consisting of 30 episodes. Like the Taiwanese drama series "Young Hero Fong Sai Yuk" (Siu Nin Ying Hong Fong Sai Yuk) played by Dicky Cheung Wai Kin, this is another series based on Fang Shi Yu (Fong Sai Yuk).
Fang is a carefree young Chinese man who lived during the Qing dynasty. His mother, Miao Cui Hua, was a strong-willed woman who was highly-skilled in kung fu. Fang befriends a friendly Manchu, Na Lan De Kai, whose brother is evil and is only concerned in being Number One in the pugilistic world. Later, Fang and his family--parents and younger brother--moved elsewhere.
Tiger Lei is the cheat of the village. His daughter Xiao Ti (In the Dicky Cheung version, he had a son), was the first to fall in love with Fang but he was upset that she kept on tricking others' money. His mother sends him to school. In the school, he is joined by De Kai who moves to the exact place, and De Kai's cousin, Fu Lu Ge Ge who is captivated by Shi Yu. She pretends to be a man.
Unfortunately, Shi Yu and Ge Ge ended up burning down the school in De Kai's absence. Shi Yu also falls in love with Ge Ge. However, his mother Cui Hua opposes her because she is rough. On the other hand, Shi Yu's dad, Fang De (played by some Hong Kong ATV guy) and De's nanny do not feel she is as bad as Cui Hua thinks.
De Kai saves Xiao Ti from his brother's rival, You Hong Xiu. At that time, she has forgotten Shi Yu. De Kai's brother, De Gang, declines Tiger Lei's proposal for De Kai to marry Xiao Ti because he is prejudiced against the Chinese. But they do get married later on, before Tiger dies.
Shi Yu's brother Shao Yu, advises him on being a two-timer. From then onwards, it was only between Shi Yu and Ge Ge. I do not know much about May Phua other than she is pretty, acts in a lot of movies like DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY (Comedy) as Guo Ming Hui, TONG YI PIAN LAN TIAN as Annie Liu An Ni, and many others but I can't remember. As for Wing Chiu Man Cheuk, all I know is that he acts in most old-fashioned movies like HUA MU LAN--he played a major role there as General Li and Anita's husband, Sun Xing's friend, blah blah blah.
In the end, Fang De is discovered as "White Fortuneteller", member of the anti-Manchu organization, Da Ming Hui. On being misunderstood by the members, he commits suicide. Shi Yu and De Kai fight justice for him and Shi Yu even killed one of the members. The Da Ming Hui members later make him the leader.
Shi Yu organizes riots and even fights with Yong zheng, the emperor. However, the emperor is a just man, so Shi Yu lets him off and promises to return in 10 years' time. I don't really understand the last part which showed Shi Yu leaving unhurt and the building he was in was burnt down.
Just updated a new banner. How do you think about it? I love it ^^ Yesterday we updated our wiki page. Make sure to check it out by clicking this link. Right now I just made this blog easier to navigate...at least I think so...How is it? Is it easier to find things now?
Remember that we need staff members to all spots (especially translators). If you are (or you know) someone who loves drama and would like to be part of subbing group spread the word of Renai Fansubs ~~
I think that's all I have to say for now. Please remember to follow us on twitter, like us on facebook and add yourself as our blogs follower by clicking the "Follow" button on the sidebar :)

Translate
Self explanatory. Translating the movie from the source language (ex: Japanese ) to the target language (English). It is alright if the translator doesn't know everything. If he/she is uncertain of the translation of certain phrases, just put an asterisk (*) behind them to notify the spotter.
Spot
This person has a similar job to the translator, and are mostly the second set of eyes/ears. They check the translation to ensure accuracy as well as look at the asterisk marked lines to help with translation.
Time
Putting the translated lines into the correct time in the movie. (So, if someone speaks there should be a subtitle on screen.)
Edit
Primarily fixing the polish of the target language (English). Since translator and spotter are typically non-native English speakers, they need help on their English. The sentences are typically full of typos, grammatical errors, and sentences that just seem to read wrong. Good editors must be meticulous in fixing these errors.
QC
Is the last line of ensuring correctness. QCer has to correct all errors. If the translator, timer, spotter, and editor all did a great job, doing a QC is a cinch. If not, doing a QC is almost redoing the entire episode.
Typeset / KFX
Is to ensure that the subs are pleasing and easy to read. Typesetters need to have a good sense of art. KFX is a typesetter for karaoke for opening / ending themes. KFXing is far more demanding than mere typesetting. They're considered as separate jobs since they're done by two different people. The nice part is that once the font / coloring / effects are set, they last for the entire series.
Encode
Is to "burn" the subtitle into the movie. Encoder has to ensure high quality results (both video and audio). The subtitle must be defect-free at this point. Or else, the encoder has to redo his/her job.
Releaser
is to put the finished products for distribution. Usually we put them in D-Addicts as torrents. Releaser is also typically responsible to seed the release.
Let me tell you a bit about ourselves and why I created this fansub group. I have been an avid Jdrama watcher for about 3 years now (I know, that's not that long) and I knew relatively little about the subbing world when I got into watching the shows. As I started watching more and more dramas I started wondering how I could help give back to those who provided the subs. I looked into it and ended up joining a small group as a WOS (words on screen) person. They were very very nice and super helpful. I learned a lot from working with them. I have expanded and now I am part of several fan subbing groups. This has shown me all sorts of dynamics and ways to get things done. There is a fun thrill to getting to work on new stuff and seeing your name on the credits that so many watch. However, as someone who works, I cannot commit myself to those very often. So, this is my solution. Renai fansubs was created for those of us who want to help the fan subbing world and perhaps don't know how, or have much time. We are committed to quality vs quantity of the fansubs we put out. I want to be known for our good subs and not for how quickly we produce work. Yes, this means that we will probably be passing on the new dramas (unless we get a group of people that has the time/commitment). I know, as a watcher myself, how frustrating it is to wait for the subs to a new drama you love watching so you can participate in the chatter about it. So, we will most likely be subbing the older dramas. If you have any suggestions for us, feel free to shoot us an e-mail. If you're looking for a faster paced group, I suggest looking at my list of other subbing groups. They are the groups I've worked with or those that I think put out great subs. I look forward to helping the subbing world grow, and expanding the available subs for those just joining the world of Asian dramas. <3
